Aaron Guild
Near where the library stands today, Captain Aaron Guild, on April 19, 1775 "left plow in furrow, oxen standing" and departed for Lexington, arriving "in time to fire upon the retreating British" in the first battle of the American Revolution. (The quotes are from a monument outside the library.)
Guild, pronounced with a long 'I' sound, is featured on the town seal carrying a musket with his oxen in the background:

Every town should have its own version of Jebediah Springfield. Aaron Guild is Norwood's, and we're proud of him.
